Margaret A Howard, LMHC
Getting in this field was a chance to combine my love for people and to be part of the process that would alleviate suffering and help make that person’s life better.
I am a board certified Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Behavioral Health Consultant, Masters’ level Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of experience.
I had the opportunity to get clinical experience in the psychiatric profession after being in a Psychiatric Hospital. Among areas of expertise are anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, BPD, trauma, eating disorders, ADHD, OCD, addiction, and psychiatric disorders among the medically ill.
As a patent advocate with an interest in working with psychiatric rehabilitation programs, I designed interventions attempting to remediate burnout among “clinical staff”. I concluded with recommendations for the development and intervention approaches to address these critical areas.
I’m also delighted to have had the opportunity to work with Harvard University doing clinical work and research focused on addiction.
I found a way to contribute my expertise to benefit my community. I customized seminars and workshops. I called them behavioral health bootcamp. The goal of the conferences was to share the art and science of restoring hope and developing emotional resilience.
With extensive experience in inpatient and outpatient settings, I have in-depth knowledge of various treatment modalities and therapies to include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing (MI), interpersonal therapy (IPT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), family therapy, couples therapy, grief & bereavement therapy, eye movement desensitization and EMDR.
From the moment we meet, you’ll know this is a very different type of psychotherapy.
